The stunning Bipasha Basu has captured the attention of India for years now. Born to Bengali parents in New Delhi, Bipasha originally intended to become a doctor until her distaste for dissections pushed her into other fields. By chance, she crossed paths with the model Mehr Jessia in 1996, who suggested she ought to try out as a model in the famous Godrej Cinthol Supermodel event. She won the contest, and became a succesful model working in New York for a period. In 2001, Bipasha emerged in the film world in the film Ajnabee as a temptress aiming for her husband's friend, and for her acting she was named Filmfare's Best Female Debut. The next year, she made headlines in the Tollywood film Takkari Donga alongside the famous Mahesh Babu and the thriller Raaz. In large part to her performance, Raaz came out one of the most successful films of the decade. Bipasha Basu's most recent smash hit was Race, which earned the praise of critic Taran Adarsh as Bipasha's "best work so far... she is superb". She also got rave reviews for her acting in Bachna Ae Haseeno. Bipasha is currently in a relationship with the Bollywood actor John Abraham, who she has been with since 2002. The UK magazine Eastern Eye, a frequently read paper by the Indian community of the United Kingdom, has deemed Bipasha the "Sexiest Woman in Asia" two times in the past five years.
